Linn and Johnson County nonprofit organizations can now apply to receive a new website through Geonetric’s annual Operation Overnight event.
Cedar Rapids, IA – June 3, 2021 – Geonetric, a digital agency and software developer for the healthcare industry, is kicking off its 10th annual Operation Overnight by accepting applications from area nonprofit organizations in need of a new website or digital marketing services. The 2021 Operation Overnight event is set to take place October 11 – 15, 2021. Applications for participation for Operation Overnight are being accepted until June 24, 2021.
“It’s hard to believe we’ve been doing Operation Overnight for 10 years. It’s been a privilege watching our team help so many deserving nonprofits use digital to connect with our community,” says Linda Barnes, Geonetric’s Chief Executive Officer. “The event strengthens our ties to nonprofits in the Corridor – and to each other. Geonetric team members get to collaborate with each other in new ways, applying their decades of digital knowledge to help solve needs right here in our communities. We get as much out of the event in terms of team building and goodwill as we give.”
During Operation Overnight, Geonetric employees take a time out from building websites and online marketing solutions for healthcare organizations to spend 24 hours strategizing, coding, writing, and designing websites and other digital materials that help local nonprofits fulfill their missions in our community. To date, Operation Overnight has built and launched websites for 37 area nonprofits, including Olivet Neighborhood Mission, WRAP (Wheelchair Ramp Accessibility Program), African American Museum of Iowa, and St John of the Cross Catholic Worker House.
Due to the pandemic, Geonetric revamped the 2020 event to better suit the needs of both the nonprofits and the Geonetric team. For the first time in the event’s 9-year history, it was held fully online. In addition, the nonprofit organizations were selected from past Operation Overnight alumni who were eager to get updates to their websites. Each nonprofit still had the same amount of work time as a traditional event, spread out over a week to make it more flexible for everyone.
For this year’s event, Geonetric will be promoting their new remote-first culture by kicking off their 10th annual Operation Overnight working on hybrid teams of both in-person and virtual to adhere to CDC guidelines and accommodate all comfort levels. They will be keeping the week-long format from the 2020 event but tweaking it to bring back more of the in-person excitement from years past.
This unique event wouldn’t be possible without the help of local partners and sponsors. If your company is interested in sponsoring the 2021 Operation Overnight, please email operation.overnight@geonetric.com.
