The Process

Define & Track

Everyone agreed at the outset on one critical, measurable objective. For North Kansas City Hospital’s bariatric campaign, the goal was to add five attendees to each of its nine seminars scheduled over a three-month period, or a total of 45 new registrants.

Plan & Produce

Working in two-week sprints, we brainstormed ideas, developed creative and delivered tactics to market, all within the sprint.

Evaluate & Modify

Tactics launched immediately and were evaluated by the ultimate focus group — real health consumers. Adjustments to the campaign and individual tactics ensured budget and energy focused on the tactics that worked.

Measure & Report

The focus always remained on the goal. North Kansas City Hospital received regular updates on how close the campaign was to reaching the goal of 45 new registrants.

Display and text pay-per-click advertisements were launched. The text ads quickly outperformed the display ads, so more budget was allocated toward the text ads.

Numerous Facebook posts and ads highlighted everything from surgery successes to a seminar date countdown.

To ensure cohesion between the advertisements and the website, custom landing pages included intake forms for each digital tactic.

Physician-Focused Email

A physician-focused email led to a coordinating landing page that offered a guide with tips on how to talk to patients about weight issues.

Radio Spot

Interviews with NKCH bariatric patients ran on popular radio stations and listeners were directed to visit a campaign landing page to sign up for a free informational session.

The Results

The marketing campaign brought in 45 seminar registrations. Based on this initial success, NKCH extended the campaign for eight more weeks and produced another 80 registrations. Of those 125 seminar attendees, approximately 50% will advance to surgery at the hospital. NKCH is in the process of tracking those 125 seminar attendees to see how many schedule surgery at the hospital.
