Healthcare Website Redesign

Cape Cod Healthcare needed to evolve its long-standing website with a modern, user-focused design that could support both current needs and future growth.

The Massachusetts-based health system had refreshed its branding in 2023, and turned to long-time partner Geonetric shortly after to align the look of the website.

The key focuses of this healthcare website redesign project were updating the site’s aesthetics, while improving usability across devices, streamlining navigation, and enhancing content flexibility.

The ultimate end goal? A refreshed, user-friendly “digital front door that truly reflects who we are as a system now,” explained Julie Badot, Vice President of Marketing for Cape Cod Healthcare.

“Since our last redesign in 2019, Cape Cod Healthcare has continued to grow and advance our mission to provide high-quality, exceptional care for our community and visitors, guided by a steadfast commitment to excellence in all we do,” Badot explained. “As we’re a sophisticated, tertiary health system delivering top-tier medicine in a unique regional setting, we needed to ensure our site was up to speed with our evolution and deliver an enhanced experience for web visitors.”

Create a fresh, visually engaging design that draws in visitors and incorporates Cape Cod Healthcare’s new branding elements.

Incorporate intuitive, user-centered functionality that improves the overall experience across devices.

Effectively communicate excellence in care through clear content hierarchy, purposeful layouts, and a design system that reinforces strategic messaging.

Geonetric worked with Cape Cod Healthcare to align the healthcare website redesign project timeline with their team’s bandwidth and offered suggestions of changes to implement before the launch and iterative updates that could be made afterwards, saving their smaller team time and resources.

Leveraging Cape Cod Healthcare’s updated color palette and graphic elements, Geonetric developed a clean, modern design that brings the brand to life while maintaining usability and brand cohesion. Geonetric implemented a modular layout, allowing Cape Cod Healthcare to easily update content and create dynamic pages while ensuring consistency and long-term scalability.

“I was quite surprised and impressed with the additional types and options for the panel templates. They give us a so much flexibility laying out our pages,” said Michael Seeley, Cape Cod Healthcare’s Program Manager for Digital Media. “It makes it so easy.”

Geonetric also improved site navigation by adding a sticky global menu for consistent access, proximity-based links for easier exploration, and a hamburger menu to reduce homepage clutter while keeping key actions accessible regardless of whether a user visits the site from a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

“To see how the new site design translated onto mobile, I’d say in a lot of ways the mobile is even more improved than the desktop version,” Seeley said.

The redesigned site also offers users multiple options for how they want to explore their care options, from a carousel of major service lines and an alphabetical listing of all services to a search box and individual pages covering the types of care offered (emergency care, primary care, etc.).

To better serve patients — especially during high-demand seasons like summer on Cape Cod — the new design elevated key transactional elements such as urgent care wait times by adding them to location profiles and featuring them more prominently on the homepage making them especially easy to find for mobile users.

The site’s layout and content strategy were designed with thoughtful CTA placement, flexible content blocks, and an adaptable layout to clearly communicate Cape Cod Healthcare’s commitment to delivering local, high-quality care.

The percentage of mobile traffic we receive is always going up. The changes and additions to the new design improve the mobile experience greatly. I’d say in a lot of ways the mobile layout is even more improved than the desktop version.
