What’s new in VitalSite 41?

VitalSite Forms sunsetting

Announced in early 2025 as part of our continued efforts to enhance security and compliance, VitalSite forms have now been fully retired. Removing this deprecated technology improves security, reduces technical debt, and simplifies support and maintenance of your site.

Enhancements to Elastic Site Search

Crawl-based site search offers an alternative search experience to VitalSite’s built-in search that provides more rapid results and the opportunity for custom refinement.

This release includes several updates/enhancements that further improve the user experience by providing more accurate and predictable research results, along with improved control of search display.

Google Places

VitalSite continues to stay aligned with Google’s evolving APIs. This release includes compatibility updates for the latest Google Places API, including UI adjustments that ensure location-based personalization remains reliable as Google’s tools change.

Upcoming Events API

VitalSite’s events API now includes registration status information alongside event information. This improvement supports more accurate events listings and support for upcoming UX improvements for the Classes & Events module.

Additional improvements & fixes

  • File names containing multiple spaces are now supported in Media Library, providing better predictability and flexibility.
  • Custom location pages with parameters now redirect correctly without errors.

What’s next?

We’re reimagining the Calendar & Events experience for site visitors with a new interface designed to make events easier to discover and more engaging to explore.

Site visitors will enjoy a fluid, modern browsing experience with enhanced search and filtering, a mobile-friendly, card-based layout, featured images for Event Topics, and the flexibility to toggle between two new views: card-style listings or a traditional calendar grid.

Powered by enhanced Calendar APIs, this upgrade elevates how events are showcased while giving organizations a fresh new way to present event information. These changes are focused on the public-facing experience and will be offered as an opt-in alternative to the current UI.

Featured Product: Formulate®

The latest release of Formulate introduces a new cost component that gives administrators greater flexibility when accepting online payments. Admins can now apply a fixed-rate tax to regular or event-based costs—making it easier to account for processing fees, regulatory charges, or other flat costs.

For events, the tax will apply to all events with fees that use that form for registration. This enhancement supports sales tax requirements in some regions, provides clearer cost breakdowns for attendees, and less manual maintenance behind the scenes.

How do I upgrade?

The Formulate release was completed on March 31. All clients have received this update, and the feature is available to use. You can find information about the new cost component, as well as the Formulate change log, in TeamSupport.
