New intranet keeps Owensboro Medical Health System's employees informed, provides support for patient care.

Cedar Rapids, IA — January 2, 2013 — With a new, state–of–the art hospital set to be unveiled in 2013, it is a perfect time for Owensboro Medical Health System (OMHS), headquartered in Owensboro, KY, to launch a new intranet. Together with longtime partner, Geonetric, an online solutions provider for the healthcare industry, the new intranet enhances communication at the health system and keeps its nearly 3,400 employees updated on the new facility and transition plans.

"Owensboro Medical Health System is growing. From our new hospital to our ever–expanding service area, it's important to provide a central, secure way to communicate with employees," says Gordon Wilkerson, hospital spokesman and coordinator for the intranet project at OMHS. "Geonetric is a great partner. Their software and experience developing hospital intranets have been instrumental to this project. Our new intranet is a valuable resource that will play an important role at this time in our growth."

The intranet design aligns closely with OMHS's main website, which was redesigned in May 2012. Both the website and intranet utilize Geonetric's VitalSite content management system, which allows OMHS to distribute content ownership to many departments while maintaining control over brand standards.

The intranet offers department and employee directories, a calendar, forms and eCards. OMHS also implemented Geonetric's Web–based policy and procedure manager to manage critical patient care documents.
