The Bariatric Blog: How Patient Stories Create Solid ROI
Blogs have increasingly become a popular part of the internet. In the healthcare industry, blogs
help track a patient’s journey with chronic disease or procedures with lengthy recovery times,
creating the ability for a patient to post their feelings and all the interactions that take place when
facing certain decisions. The result is a patient’s-eye view into what would be required with the
procedure, and what to expect, valuable to health consumers in similar situations as well as their
friends, families and other members of their support system. This interaction can be the deciding
factor for many patients as they face choices about the treatment options available.

Creating an Executable Web Strategy
A majority of organizations do not develop a strategy for the Web. Instead, they get into a pattern of "plan this phase, do this phase, repeat as necessary." Pulling together a strategy takes time and effort. Is it worth it? Without a comprehensive, strategic framework that assesses business value, documents best practices and research, benchmarks a current state, and justifies an investment, the strength of your final product will be diluted. A good Web strategy is the cornerstone of great execution.

Untangled Web: Design an Executable Online Strategy
Online success is about balance: looking into the future and determining where you want to be in 3-5 years down the road, while matching that vision with shorter-term milestones for execution. It can be tough to get your arms around a long-term perspective in such a fast-moving medium as the Web. Without it, however, individual efforts pull in a myriad of different directions – resulting in much activity without any progress.

Staying Power: Convert Website visitors to patients
E-health professionals in hospitals and health systems
operate in an environment of ongoing and gradual (but significant)
change. The pressure to justify investments under
increasing budgetary constraints requires them to demonstrate
successes before and after they are made. Yet with these pressures
come opportunities to demonstrate the value of their
departments to the entire organization, securing the necessary
resources to execute new initiatives much more easily.

A Portal for the Heart: The New Revolution of Service Line Portals
Building portals around specific service lines allows us to focus our efforts on high payback areas and to create a deeper, more effective solution for connecting with those key audiences. When selecting a service line for which to build a portal, we look for service line profitability (contribution margin), available capacity for growth, long-term patient engagement with the organization and, ideally, a high degree of patient choice, making such portals excellent additions to service lines such as cardiology, bariatric surgery, and executive health programs.
