Visual Design
With Information Architecture complete and a strategic plan in motion, the design
process begins.
Design is a balancing act between art and science. On the one hand, it must be
attractive and visually engaging. The site must communicate the brand image of
the organization and reinforce its positioning in the marketplace. On the other
hand, the site must be functional, intuitive, and easy to navigate and fast to load.
Our designers are experienced at executing this challenge, offering an eye for
visual flair and impact grounded with a hard usability experience and visual
hierarchy practices:
- Initial Homepage Designs
Your designer works with you and your Web
team to develop an online look that carries
important branding elements from your offline
marketing efforts into a cohesive online
design. Based on the research and meetings to
date, the designers will create two homepage
composite sketches for you to review followed
by three rounds of revisions of one of the
composite sketches to get to the look that is
just right for your organization.
- Interior Detail Designs
Interior detail designs are used to give form to
the nebulous internal structure of the site, and
provide a framework for further usability
testing. Based on the final homepage design,
an interior page design will be refined through
two rounds of revisions.
- Follow-up Usability Testing
Our usability team is directly involved in the development of the homepage
and interior designs, constantly applying best practices carried through from
the information architecture phase. In many cases, the usability testing is
conducted with the designer before the designs are shown to you.
