Geonetric and Mercy Medical Center to Speak at Annual SHSMD Conference
Geonetric invited to present session, host roundtable, exhibit and demonstrate latest patient portal at upcoming industry conference.
Cedar Rapids, IA - September 1, 2009 - Geonetric, an online solutions provider for the healthcare industry, will be speaking and exhibiting at the Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development Connections 2009 conference. The conference will be held in Orlando, FL on September 30 - October 2, 2009.
Ben Dillon, Geonetric's vice president and eHealth evangelist, along Melissa Erbes, Mercy Medical Center's marketing specialist, will be presenting: The Web's Role in Crisis Communications: How Mercy Medical Center Dealt with Historic Flooding on Friday, October 2 from 1:45 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
The presentation explains how Mercy Medical Center, a 362-bed system in Iowa, handled last year's historic flood. Mercy used every channel available, including its website, to communicate with patients, families, and the community as the crisis unfolded. Ben and Melissa will:
- Present how crisis communications were managed through a flood and eventual evacuation event at Mercy Medical Center, with detail on how communications were managed online,
- Discuss the communications/online/and hospital-wide lessons learned, and
- Share frameworks for crisis communication planning with a particular focus on the role that online communications tools play within crisis communications.
"You never know when the unexpected may happen to your hospital," said Dillon. "This presentation will help others learn from a real-life example of what to do when faced with a crisis, as well as what role the Web takes in helping you communicative with your diverse stakeholders."
Geonetric's Linda Barnes, vice president of marketing and communications, will be hosting a roundtable on October 1 from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. on: Empowering Employees to Deliver your Hospitals' Brand. Linda will be leading a group discussion about the importance of engaging employees and educating them on their role in the brand delivery process.
