Methodist Medical Center of Illinois Improves Employee Communications with Intranet Created by Geonetric
Cedar Rapids, IA (Jan. 26, 2009) - Methodist Medical Center of Illinois (MMCI), of Peoria, Ill., recently improved employee communications online. With the help of Geonetric, an online solutions provider, they launched a new intranet that connects all employees to news, contact information, and important documents.
The hospital branded the intranet "ConnectMe" and is excited to have a tool that allows for global reach throughout their hospital. Previously, MMCI's employees used a shared drive to access important forms and documents, hardcopy phone books to find employees across the hospital, and company-wide emails to distribute information.
"It was important for us to create a central place for employees to find everything," says Katrina Griffin, Web Coordinator at MMCI. "One of the greatest benefits of ConnectMe is the availability and ease of access to hospital information. Geonetric helped us build an intranet based on industry best practices, but also worked with us to ensure the intranet is as unique as our organization."
Designed on the latest version of VitalSite®, ConnectMe receives automatic upgrades every six weeks and an enhanced backend for administrators. It showcases a find an employee module that is integrated with Active Directory and updated nightly. The find an employee module also features a sophisticated search that produces results even if names aren't spelled correctly.
ConnectMe offers employees news, calendar and an announcements column that offers real-time updates of hospital news. This replaces many company-wide emails, saving all employees time. The intranet features a flash banner that MMCI can change to display new pictures. MMCI's intranet also offers Geonetric's exclusive Web-based policy and procedure manager designed specifically for the healthcare industry.
