Company History

Ten years of success

Not to brag, but....

Since 2000, we've grown 377% in employees and 416% in revenue.

We're one of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S.

We're ranked #10 on the list of Best Places to Work in Healthcare.

CEO Eric Engelmann was named CEO of the Year by the Technology Association of Iowa.

Our clients have won more than 80 national and regional awards.

June 2009 marked Geonetric's 10th anniversary — and we had a lot to celebrate!

In our short history, we've experienced astonishing growth, created an award-winning work environment and truly advanced the eHealth industry.

Where we started

When founder and CEO Eric Engelmann and a former partner opened Geonetric's doors in 1999, we built Web sites and Web applications for Fortune 500 companies in a variety of industries.

Typical engagements included design, information architecture, research, and application development. We quickly became known for our exciting, new ideas that no one had done before.

How we've changed

In 2000, Geonetric was asked to build a prototype for a health system with three large hospitals in a geographically disperse area. The tricky part was integrating information across the system, with individual sites sharing content, databases and third-party applications.

So we came up with a great solution called VitalSite® - and we realized it could be used by hospitals and health systems nationwide. The ability to create a seamless online patient experience became the core of our philosophy.

And that's when the astonishing growth began. We're now home to 60+ employees, serving 25 clients that represent more than 150 hospitals nationwide.

Where we're headed

We're not content to look backwards at our impressive history. We're always focused on the future, keeping pace and even foreseeing the constant changes in technology and the healthcare industry.

In July 2009, we introduced the next generation of our patient portal, which allows usersunprecedented access to their medical data. It's an exciting new approach that's personalized to the individual - and it's going to change the way hospitals interact with patients. In short, another eHealth revolution.
